Nanaimo Bakery & Café
Baking bread, breaking down barriers, bringing hope...
It is with sadness that we announce that, effective November 24, 2023, Nanaimo Bakery & Café will cease regular operations. Our parent company, Rising Hope Services Inc., has been working hard to keep our bakery and café running smoothly over these past 2 years. Unfortunately, due to economic challenges, staffing issues, and shifting community priorities, we can't continue with our current business model.
However, as a social enterprise supporting Island Crisis Care Society, Rising Hope Services Inc. is committed to finding a new way forward. We'll be working on a fresh plan to support ICCS and make a positive impact on Nanaimo in the new year.
Throughout the month of December, we'll be hosting community events, including our Tuesday Live Music Evenings, and our space will also be available for community groups and businesses to book privately. We'll also have a limited selection of Christmas treats and gift boxes available for pre-order on our Facebook page or via email and available for purchase during our special events.
We want to thank everyone who has supported us in the past two years, and we're excited about welcoming you to something new in the future.
The Nanaimo Bakery & Café / Rising Hope Services Inc. Leadership Team
Nanaimo Bakery & Café is baking bread, breaking down barriers, and bringing hope to the mid-Vancouver Island region.
Our bakery provides quality, handmade, artisanal food and beverages. We offer a space to eat in, popular Grab & Go items to make your work lunch easy, and online ordering options.
When it comes to coffee, we brew Salt Spring Organic, Fair Trade beans.
We offer catering for events of all sizes, as well as custom and wholesale orders. Our Catering Menu has standard options that we are able to provide for groups. We are pleased to work with event organizers to find options that work best for your unique needs.
The Nanaimo Bakery & Café (under the ownership of Rising Hope Services Inc.) supports the mission of the local non-profit Island Crisis Care Society by serving as a work experience host for the organization’s new employment program, Project Rise, which offers employment training to those who have typically experienced barriers to community connection.
Our vision is to lift the community by prioritizing local products and supporting local people. We provide quality, handmade, artisanal food and beverages, made with care and intention.
Whether you are fueling up for a day on the road, getting lunch for coworkers, or meeting a friend to catch up, the Nanaimo Bakery & Café has what you are looking for.
